Welcome to Heart Body Glow. I’m Dr. Maame-Mensima Horne. My mission is to support you on your journey to cultivate health and vitality through a heart‑centered approach to mind, body, and spirit healing.
I began my journey teaching yoga and mindfulness to children in New York City after‑school programs. After deepening my practice and becoming certified to teach adults, I was inspired to study medicine.
After completing four rigorous years of naturopathic medical training and passing two licensing exams, I created Heart Body Glow to merge my passions for medicine, spirituality, and healing.
In 2014, I traveled internationally and experienced first‑hand a Chikungunya outbreak – a mosquito‑borne illness that caused flu‑like symptoms and tremendous joint pain. With no treatment beyond pain relievers and rest, I relied on natural medicine and yoga to support my health.
After returning to the US, I developed new symptoms that I later learned were due to neuroinflammation, vitamin deficiencies, and an undiagnosed autoimmune condition – all worsened by the virus and the stress of travel. My frustration navigating the conventional health system became fuel for my own healing and for becoming a doctor who goes beyond protocols and algorithms.
I believe in the body’s innate ability to heal. There is no magic pill that will change your health although medications may help alleviate your symptoms. True healing takes time and is an individual process. I guide and support patients along the way as they work to rebuild, restore and maintain their health.
I believe in the body’s innate ability to heal. There is no magic pill, although medications may help alleviate symptoms. True healing takes time and is an individual process. I guide and support clients as they work to rebuild, restore, and maintain their health.
I work with clients facing challenges such as infertility, women’s health and postpartum, thyroid disorders, autoimmune conditions, autism, narcolepsy, seizures, mental health conditions, overcoming self-destructive patterns, digestive disorders, and cancer – always as a complement to their medical team.
Understanding the delicate connection between mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health has been my motivation to alleviate suffering. In naturopathic medicine, one of our principles is to identify and treat the root cause of disease – and to support the body’s intrinsic ability to re‑establish health. Creating a healing space to uncover how stress, trauma, and emotions affect well‑being has propelled me toward a heart‑centered, holistic approach.
